Big Time Rush for children battling Cystic Fibrosis

Leah and Evan Sauber laugh and play like any other children their age, but their childhood is unlike most. Both were born with Cystic Fibrosis, a genetic disease that affects nearly every aspect of their young lives.

Eight-year-old Leah, and six-year-old Evan, both eat a strict diet of salt and fats. Cystic Fibrosis affects the lungs, sinuses, and digestive tract, eventually causing complications with diabetes. Parents Eric and Kim Sauber say visits to the doctor and hospital can be frequent, as is the regimen of 10 to 20 enzyme pills both children must take with meals daily.

“It’s part of our lives every day, and we’ve kind of gotten into a routine,” said Eric Sauber. He added, “We work together and help each other, our families help out quite a bit.”

Kendall Schmidt Talks Heffron Drive with BOP and Tiger Beat!

You probably know Kendall Schmidt as the lead singer of the boy band Big Time Rush, but BTR is not the only band that Kendall is in! The actor and singer is also a part of the duo known as Heffron Drive, which also features BTR’s guitarist Dustin Belt. Kendall and Dustin are hitting the road for a Germany tour! Kendall dished a ton of Heffron Drive deets in an exclusive interview with BOP & Tiger Beat! Check out Kendall’s interview below and then let us know what YOU think about the singer and Heffron Drive in the comments below!

BOP&TB: Our readers know you from Big Time Rush. How does Heffron Drive’s sound compare?
Kendall Schmidt:
Heffron Drive is noticeably different from Big Time Rush. Big Time Rush is straight pop while HD is kind of rock-pop-electro. I’d say HD is a blend of bands like Incubus and Fall Out Boy with some Zedd and Skrillix thrown in for good measure.

BOP&TB: What do you each do in terms of writing lyrics, producing, instruments, etc.?
Kendall Schmidt:
Dustin and I are the sole artistic directors for the music; we write it, play it, and record. We both play guitar and add electronic sounds when it feels right.

James Maslow Talks Bachelor Pads, Body Building and His ‘Big Time’ Future

Starring in the hit Nickelodeon series Big Time Rush has changed 22-year-old James Maslow’s life in a big time way. Five years ago the SoCal native couldn’t imagine touring the globe, owning a home in the Hollywood Hills and restoring vintage cars (for fun, not because it’s the only way to get from point A to point B!). Thanks to the huge success of the show and the pop group, James’ career is on the rise, leading him to guest gigs on other Nick series like Marvin Marvin and See Dad Run. James talks to OK! about living the dream, buying his first place and what’s next!

OK!: How has life changed in the past four years?
James Maslow:
It’s pretty amazing. I went from sleeping on my Godmother’s couch out here (in LA), driving an old Mustang and basically auditioning and driving four times a week from San Diego to being 22 and buying a house in the hills. I talk about cars I’m rebuilding. I’m rebuilding a car for fun. I didn’t grow up in that type of environment. The house I have now is so much nicer than anything I had when I was younger. My dad was over because we cooked steaks the other night and we were just talking about it. It’s really cool. That’s a really nice perk, the financial aspect of it. We’re (Big Time Rush) not The Beatles. We’re not at the point where I can just spend whatever I want but even at the point now it’s so nice. But what I’m most excited about is it’s been such a great stepping stone. The experience I’ve had in music and TV and film because of this project, from traveling the world to shooting 77 episodes and doing a couple of movies is pretty amazing. I can’t wait to parlay that into the next step in my career which is coming up pretty soon.

Big Time Rush Talk Upcoming Summer Break Tour and Album Title!

Big Time Rush recently announced that Victoria Justice will be joining them on their Summer Break Tour and we couldn’t be more excited! We caught up with all of them at their show last night at The House of Blues in Hollywood to hear more about it.

Both Victoria and the BTR boys initially had their own summer tours, but, “We just got together and was like ‘Hey, it’d be really fun if we joined forces and did this together,’” Victoria told us.

The boys and her covered Taylor Swift’s “I Knew You Were Trouble” last night, “It was actually their idea,” said Victoria. “We haven’t had a chance for her to write about us so we figured we’d sing her song,” said Kendall Schmidt. “Maybe she’d YouTube it and be like ‘I should write a smash about those guys,’” he added.
